I differ from larger agencies and group practices in that I’m a solo therapist in private practice. People are often surprised when they call and actually find me answering — not a receptionist or answering service! In order to give my clients my full, dedicated, personalized attention, I chose to limit my caseload size. I have found that seeing a smaller amount of clients allows me the time to: respond to my clients in a timely manner, provide flexibility with appointment times, think about and research individual cases outside of session time, continue to sharpen my clinical skills in trainings and consultation, and keep my emotional energy replenished to be truly present and connected with my clients. Some of the feedback I get from people is that they appreciate that I am “open,” “real,” “accessible,” “responsive,” "warm" and “easy to work with.”
I come to therapy from a dance, fitness, movement and somatic background. This forms the foundation of all my work: I consider the body in space, the body in relationships and the impact of our social and cultural values on our body and our perspective of bodies, gender and populations. In essence I take a bottom-up approach (body-mind) as much as the traditional top-down (mind over matter) of psychotherapy.
